Seal of Biliteracy
The State of Illinois provides school districts with the opportunity to award students the State Seal of Biliteracy. The school district may establish a program to recognize high school graduates who have attained a high level of proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English, by designating on a student's transcript and high school diploma his or her receipt of the State Seal of Biliteracy. Community High School District 128 established requirements for demonstrating high level of proficiency in English and one or more additional languages based on state requirements and existing assessments administered to students at Libertyville High School and Vernon Hills High School. For the 2016-17 school year, D128 students are eligible for the Seal of Biliteracy if they:
- Earn a minimum composite score of 21 on an official administration of the ACT
- Earn I-5 on all parts of the AAPPL test
- Earn a score of 4 or 5 on one of the AP language exams offered in D128:
- AP Chinese Language and Culture
- AP French Language and Culture
- AP German Language and Culture
- AP Latin
- AP Spanish Language and Culture
