Adam Gohr, Director of Bands

Adam GohrAdam Gohr is a graduate of the University of Illinois (B.M.E.) and Penn State University (M.M.E.). In the summer of 2010, he was selected as one of Northwestern University’s Summer Music Education Fellows, and has pursued additional graduate work at VanderCook College of Music and DePaul University.  Mr. Gohr has taught every level of music student from kindergarten through college in his teaching career, most recently serving as Director of Bands at Mundelein High School from 2005-2013. Groups under his direction have performed at the University of Illinois Superstate Festival, the ILMEA All-State Conference, the Western Illinois Honor Band Festival, the University of Illinois Chamber Music Symposium, and onstage at Carnegie Hall, Symphony Center in Chicago, and the Krannert Center for the Performing Arts.

At LHS, Mr. Gohr teaches Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Wind Ensemble, directs the Marching Wildcats and Basketball Pep Band, and serves as a Lit-Tech, assisting fellow teachers with technological and literacy needs.

Mr. Gohr is currently active as a conductor, clinician, adjudicator, as well as performing regularly with the North Suburban Wind Ensemble and chamber groups. He is a member of the National Band Association, National Association for Music Education, the Illinois Music Educators’ Association, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia.  Mr. Gohr lives in the northern suburbs with his wife Kendra (a private low brass instructor) and their two children.
