Vernon Hills High School is recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education and is a member of IACAC, NACAC and the College Board. Vernon Hills High School is a 2010 recipient of the U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon of Excellence Award. The school has received many honors including the School Search Bright A+ Award of Excellence, the School Match Annual School System, Newsweek’s “America’s Best High Schools,” and U.S. News & World Report’s annual ranking of the Best American High Schools. U. S. News & World Report also ranked VHHS in the top 100 STEM high schools in the nation. In addition, VHHS was named to The Washington Post’s top 30 Most Challenging High Schools in Illinois and was recognized in the College Board’s 5th Annual AP Honor Roll.
