#vhgive Luci Lights for our sister school in Uganda
Posted November 13, 2017
As presented during the #vhgive lesson Friday, November 10th, the students and staff at VHHS are raising money to provide every family of a child at our sister school in Uganda with a solar powered Luci Light. The cost of each light is $20 but with the generous help of MPOWERD, the creators of Luci Light, VH is able to purchase each light for only $10! Check out www.vhgive.org for the story behind the movement. Please consider donating today. The fundraiser will end November 17th at 7:00 pm at the Student/Staff Variety Show at VHHS. In addition to sending the Luci Lights, proceeds from the Variety Show will help purchase curriculum guides for the Ugandan national standardized exams every Ugandan child takes at the end of 7th grade. Educational Support Personnel (ESP) are also contributing to this Luci Light effort by donating Luci Lights to a group of 30 women in the Adult Literacy Class at St. Jerome. These solar lights will allow them to study at night or read to their families.
Donations will be accepted during student’s 3rd period class, in the main office or on the webstore. Check out the foyer to see our progress. Each yellow circle represents a Luci Light donation. The black circles represents the remaining donations needed. Our goal is to purchase a light for each of the 230 students at St. Jerome COVE Primary School.
Thank you to our Vernon Hills High School #vhgive Ambassadors for their inspiration to make a difference. Check our #vhgive on social media to stay connected with their random acts of kindness.
