Individuals with lost or forgotten gymnasium tickets will be asked to view the ceremony in the auditorium.
Seating for Persons with Disabilities
Seating for guests who use wheelchairs, have limited physical mobility, or a medical condition will be available on the main floor of the Gymnasium. Each student will be assigned to a team led by a faculty marshal. Marshals will assist your student from pre-graduation arrangements through to the distribution of the diplomas.
All graduates will assemble in the Field House by 6:15 p.m. At that time, faculty marshals will assist with line-up and other pre-ceremony details.
Immediately following the ceremony, graduates are to report to the south end of the Field House to turn in their gowns and pick up their diplomas from their counselor. A reception for graduates and guests will be held in the Field House.
Academic Regalia: Caps and Gowns
All graduates will wear appropriate academic regalia for the graduation ceremony. Caps and gowns will be picked up Wednesday, May 16, 2018 during lunch periods and gowns will be returned immediately after the graduation ceremony.
Appropriate Attire for Graduates
Even though graduates will be wearing caps and gowns, a few guidelines are needed to assure the appropriateness of the ceremony. The following guidelines will be in place for the ceremony:
· Male Students
Dress shirt, tie, dress slacks, dress shoes. Sandals, boots or gym shoes are not appropriate.
· Female Students
Dress or dressy skirt and blouse, dress slacks and blouse, dress shoes or dressy sandals. Low heel shoes are suggested. Casual sandals, boots or gym shoes are not appropriate.
Students who arrive in blue jeans, shorts, gym shoes, t-shirts, or other inappropriate clothing will not be allowed to participate in the commencement ceremony. Wearing of sunglasses, hats, etc. is inappropriate.
All students should refrain from bringing cameras, purses, and any item that will need to be secured during the ceremony. Please have family members hold these items for you.
Photography at the Ceremony
Guests may take photographs from the seating area during the ceremony. Guests will not be permitted on the floor of the Gymnasium during the ceremony. The school has arranged for Visual Image Photography, our official graduation photographer, to capture the diploma presentation for each graduate. Details regarding the availability of these photographs will be mailed to each graduate.
If you wish to have a picture of the graduate in their cap and gown, this should be done prior to the graduation ceremony. Gowns will be turned in immediately after the ceremony in the Field House.
This is an exciting time for students and families. We understand the desire to celebrate the achievement by cheering for your student when his/her name is called. However, please refrain from loud outbursts that may detract from the recognition of your graduate or the graduate who is announced next. Please do not bring any artificial noise makers into the gymnasium.
