Employment, Volunteer, and Internship Opportunities
This resource is a collaboration of updated job openings offered in the Lake County area and will be updated regularly. Students may use this as a resource when looking to apply for independent, competitive employment experiences. The listings may include seasonal, weekend and/or part-time job openings. For additional assistance, students should contact transition staff or the College Resource Center in their high school.

AMC 8: Vernon Hills Theater
As a Crew Member you could be fullfilling the responsibilities of a cashier working at a register, concessionist filling orders and preparing/making food, or an usher taking tickets, keep the theaters tidy, and greeting guests.
As a Crew Memeber at Chipotle you will get to experience a different type of fast food where every customers order is made exactly how they would like it. Some of the responsibilities could include cashiering, food preparation, and general cleaning of the restaurant.
Dave and Buster's
This fast pace environment offers a flexible schedule and a variety of tasks. Here you could work as a Server, Front Desk/ Host, Special Events Assistant, or Busser.
Great Wolf Lodge
Looking for a fun after school or weekend job? Great Wolf Lodge offers lots of different positions such as: Lifeguard, Front Desk Associate, Ambassador of Fun or Gift Shop Attendant. The Lifeguarding jobs here is different than others. You can either use your certification you've earned here at LHS or they will train you.
Green Oaks Senior Living
Applicants must be at least 16.
Green Oaks is a senior communtity with job opportunities such as Host/ Hostess, Server, Utility Worker, Dishwasher, House Keeper, and Resident Assistant. Be a part of a business that believes relationships are important to thriving in life.
Gurnee Mills Mall
The mall has so many stores and other opportunities for employment. Since there are too many to list, we want you to remember those options are out there. Stores, restaurants, coffee shops, kiosks, and so much more.
Gurnee Park District
Applicants must be at least 15 or 16 years old (dependent on job title).
There are both summer and year round jobs like lifeguard, swim instructor, childcare, and camp counselors.

Lake County Forest Preserves
The forest preserves in Lake County provide various jobs both outside and inside. Check out their website for more information about what jobs are opening for the summer. Some of the current openings include: Marina Attendant, Lifeguard, and Independence Grove Attendant. If you are looking to work in the cafe, apply with Cathering by Michaels.
This store offers various positions such as a bagger, cart attendant, cashier, and many department specific staff members.

This is a fast paced environment that requires a good attitude and willingness to work as a team. Crew team members can work at the register in the front, the drive through lane, or the cook lines. Together you will work to meet customer needs and keep the restaurant clean.
Six Flag's Great America / Hurricane Harbor
This is a spring - fall (maybe even winter) opportunity. You can do anything from operate the rides to be a lifeguard in the water park. During the fall there are opportunites to work in the haunted houses or be one of the characters that walks around the park firghtening people.
Target is always looking for sales associates in many of their departments. You could work in grocery, apparel, home goods, toys, etc. If you are not as interested in an area that requires a lot of customer service you could work in the flow and stocking departments. Plenty of options!
Perhaps sports or "normal" retail is not what you are interested in. Ulta offers a different kind of retail experience that could lead to other opportunities in the beauty industry.
Vernon Hills Park District
Opportunities at the park district include Babtsitting Attendant: work with small children, Adult Basketball Score Keeper: keeps score and time of games, and Fitness Attendant: watch out for safety of customers. and keep the gym and locker rooms clean and organized.
Customer Service Associates' responsibilites include cashiering, greeting customers, taking inventory, stocking, and maintaining the signs in the store.
Applicants that are 16 or 17 must have their parent or gaurdian sign their application.
There are so many different opportunities at the Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. Some of those options are helping in Central Supply, transporting patients, running bingo games, or help in the coffee or gift shop.
Bernie's Book Bank
Volunteer your time to sort books and bag them for schools in the Chicagoland area. You are able to volunteer by yourself, with your family or friends, or even set up a time where you and your favorite LHS Club could go and work together.
Cook Memorial Library
You must have a Cook Memorial Library card to be considered for these positions.
The library accepts a small group of student volunteers during the school year to help you gain skills needed in the working world. You get to choose which programs and projects you work on.
Teen Tech Tutors
If you are good with technology and enjoy helping people this may be the perfect program for you. Teens help adult customers with their copmuter and other technology problems. This program is only on Saturday and Sunday.
Sign up to be a General Events Volunteer and help out at any or all of the 50+ events that Libertyville has to offer. There are other volunteer opportunities such as assistning at the farmer's market in the summer, set up and take down events, or help with the Shuffle 5k.
Orphans of the Storm
Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and be able to give 10 hours each month.
All volunteers start off by working off site adoption and fundraising events. Opportunities inside the shelter are open to volunteers 18 and up. There a so many opportunities including things like Cat Blogger, Biography Writer, Shelter Photographer, and much more.
Spay and Stay
If you are under 18 your parent or gaurdian will need to sign your application.
Opportunities at Spay and Stay include fundraising, assist with database management, run their booth at a local event, and hands on assisting if you are 18.
