At Community High School District 128, we know that attendance matters. We are committed to partnering with families to ensure that every student has the opportunity to learn, grow, and fully participate in the school community.

Research consistently shows that consistent attendance is associated with stronger academic achievement, improved social-emotional wellbeing, and greater postsecondary success. At Libertyville High School and Vernon Hills High School, our own data tell the same story!

  • Students who attend 90% or more of the school year have higher average GPAs.
  • Students who attend 90% or more of the school year are more likely to meet ACT benchmarks.
  • Conversely, students who attend less than 90% of the school year are more than three times as likely to earn at least one D or F.

Here are a few ways you can help your student's attendance stay on track.

  • Make school attendance a priority. Talk to your student about the importance of consistent attendance, and help your student maintain daily routines.
  • Encourage engagement. Encourage your student to find ways to get involved within the school community, and connect your student with resources if you notice signs of disengagement, safety concerns, or mental health concerns.
  • Communicate with the school. Monitor your student's attendance and academic progress, and seek help from school staff if you need support. Working together allows us to identify concerns early and help students remain on a path toward success.
