COURSE GUIDELINES
Concert Band
- Preparation for all daily rehearsals
- Full participation in class
- Participation in Solo & Ensemble festival
- Practice time averaging 30-60 minutes per week
- Attendance at 4-5 home concerts
- Attendance at 1-2 offsite clinics
- Sectionals during half of lunch hour every other week
- Optional participation in athletic bands
- Private lessons encouraged
Symphonic Band
All of the same as Concert Band, plus:
- Practice time averaging 60-90 minutes (total) per week
- Attendance at one offsite clinic or festival
Symphonic Winds
All of the same as Symphonic & Concert Band, plus:
- Weekly sectionals after school (1 hour/week)
- Private lessons required
- Participation in ILMEA strongly encouraged
- Practice time averaging 90-120 minutes (total) per week
- Attendance at 1-2 offsite clinics or festivals
Wind Ensemble
All of the same as Symphonic Winds, plus:
- Participation at numerous offsite clinics/festivals (all required)
- Additional evening rehearsals (usually 2-3x/month)
- Participation in ILMEA required (following pre-audition)
- Practice time averaging 90-120 minutes (total) per week
- Weekly sectionals after school (1.5 hour/week)
