Coach Matthews has been a resident of Libertyville his entire life and loves living in this community. He graduated from LHS in 1981. Coach Matthews received his BA from Carthage College where he lettered in basketball, tennis and golf and received his Master's in Educational Administration from Northern Illinois University. He is the Lead teacher in the driver education department and has been coaching at LHS for the past 30 years. Coach Matthews is married to Lisa, another 1981 LHS graduate and they have 2 children that graduated from LHS, Ellis 2012 and Sloane 2013. Coach Matthews’ parents were also LHS graduates, Bob 1949 and Janet 1951.
Coach Wilcox is currently in his 29th year of teaching. During his years in education, he has taught history, physical education, drivers education and has also served as dean of students. Coach Wilcox has been a part of athletics for his entire career coaching a number of sports including boys’ and girls’ basketball, football, track, and boys' golf. Coach Wilcox believes in the legendary words of Coach Jim Goodwin that “Sports are a great opportunity for athletes to learn how to work hard, play together as a team, and stay positive. These are invaluable life-lessons to help them prepare for the future.”
