Wildcats Coaching Staff


Head Coach: Greg Pedersen 


Coach Pedersen has been coaching varsity basketball at Libertyville High School since 2012, after fourteen seasons as an assistant at all levels and two other years spent coaching boys at Sandwich High School. His coaching highlights include winning Regional championships in 2017, 2019, and 2020, and winning three consecutive North Suburban Conference championships from 2018-2021. He has been named IBCA District 6 Coach of the Year three times.  He joined the Libertyville faculty in 1997 after teaching for two years in Sandwich, and currently teaches AP English Literature and Freshman Literature. He received his Master's degree in Literature from Northeastern Illinois University and his Bachelor's Degree in English Education from Illinois State University. When he is not teaching, grading, or coaching basketball, he enjoys live music, golf, and family time with his wife, daughter, and son.

Assistant Coach: Amy Holtsford


Coach Holtsford has been teaching at LHS since 1986. She teaches Government, AP Government, and Law. She received her BA from the University of Illinois and her Juris Doctor from Chicago-Kent College of Law. In her tenure at LHS, Ms. Holtsford has coached softball, basketball and Mock Trial.

Head JV - Bill Mix


Coach Mix has been teaching and coaching at Libertyville High School since 1989. He has served at every level of the girls program including Varsity coach in the early 2000’s. He teaches Honor's Geography and A.P. Human Geography. He graduated from Northeastern Illinois University with a B.A. in Geography and Environmental Studies and from Mississippi State University with a M.S. in Geoscience.

Coach Zellmann is in his first year of coaching basketball at Libertyville High School. He has been coaching basketball at a variety of levels for the past twenty years. He played collegiately at Trinity International University in Deerfield. Coach Zellmann holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from T.I.U and a Masters in Sports Administration from U.I.C. He is in his thirty-first year of teaching physical education. He is married and has two children. When not at school or coaching his hobbies include fitness, reading, and spending time with family and friends.

Freshmen - Sean Ferrell


Coach Ferrell teaches physical welfare at Libertyville High School. In addition to coaching girls basketball Coach Ferrell coaches freshman boys football and serves as the Head Varsity Softball Coach.  Coach Ferrell resides in Libertyville and has 3 children. His oldest, Griffin graduated from LHS and Michigan Tech University and now works as an engineer for Ford Motor Company. Daughter McKenzie is a sophomore education major at the University of Missouri, and his youngest, Nolan is a sophomore at LHS.
