“Transitioning to College”
Thomas Crowe, Director, Office for Students with Disabilities
6pm – 6:45pm, Room A013
In this session, we’ll discuss how accommodations, and the law, differ from high school to college, what kinds of accommodations are available, what students need to do in order to gain accommodations in post-secondary education, and pitfalls to avoid. If you intend on applying for accommodations as a disabled student at any university, it is information you will not want to miss. Parents welcome!
“What it means to be a college student”
6:45pm – 7:30pm, Collective faculty
Going to college is much more than attending classes in a different building, adjusting to a schedule or dealing with costly textbooks! In this session, faculty will speak about expectations of college students, and what a typical college class looks like. Survival strategies in college will be discussed, along with the essentials of what students need to know about getting and using their accommodations, talking with instructors, and generally being successful in higher education!
