Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:

As you are aware, the D128 Board of Education held a Special Board Meeting last night to further review, discuss and consider the possible addition of an all-day in-person student attendance option to existing hybrid half-day in-person and remote attendance options.

Following a presentation, review of initial parent choice survey data, questions and answers, and brief discussion, the Board voted 7-0 on an administration recommendation to add an all-day in-person student attendance option to existing options. Under the recommendation, following Spring Break, existing hybrid half-day in-person and remote learning will start again on March 29, and the all-day in-person option will start on April 5.  Visit this link to view the slide presentation.

On the initial, non-binding surveys, approximately 64% of LHS parents/guardians selected the all-day in-person option, and approximately 48% of VHHS parents/guardians selected the all-day in-person option.

We will send a binding-option survey to parents/guardians on Wednesday, March 10. Parents must complete and submit the survey by Friday, March 12, at 4:00 p.m. Survey data will be utilized for planning the addition of the all-day in-person attendance option.

Finally, as anticipated, Illinois superintendents received IDPH-ISBE Revised Public Health Guidance earlier today. Among other recommendations, IDPH-ISBE revised the recommended social distancing to between 3-6 feet when masks are worn, and strict 6-feet social distancing when masks are not worn while eating lunch. In addition, indoor capacity limits were expanded to the number of individuals an indoor space can accommodate and still be able to meet social-distancing guidelines. And finally, outdoor space capacity limits were expanded to 20% of venue space and still be able to meet social-distancing guidelines. The revised guidance is consistent with our assumptions in planning to add an all-day in-person attendance option.  Visit this link to access the revised guidance

Again, we will send a binding-option survey to parents on Wednesday, March 10. Parents must complete and submit the survey by Friday, March 12, at 4:00 p.m.

Sincerely,

Dr. Prentiss Lea

D128 Superintendent
