Dear D128 Parents/Guardians and Students:
The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) recently updated their COVID-19 School Guidance and FAQ’s (June 7, 2021) following Governor Pritzer’s most recent Executive Order and updated CDC recommendations for schools.
Therefore, District 128 has updated a few of the school operating procedures:
- Temperature checks will no longer be taken at the buildings, but students and staff should continue to conduct a COVID-19 symptom self-check prior to entering the buildings.
- Staff and students can remove masks when they are outdoors for D128 Summer School and Summer Camps.
a. Strict adherence to physical distancing should be maintained when face coverings are removed.
b. Staff and students still participating in an IHSA Competitive season should continue to wear masks as directed by the IDPH All Sports Policy and the IHSA.
c. Staff and students who are not fully vaccinated should wear a mask in crowded outdoor settings or during activities that involve sustained close contact with other people who are not fully vaccinated.
3. Locker rooms and showers will be available on a limited basis at LHS and VHHS.
a. The number of people in locker rooms will be monitored by staff.
b. Masks should be worn at all times, except while in the shower.
In addition, beyond the exceptions noted above and in the guidance, please note that IDPH - ISBE COVID-19 School Guidance still requires “All persons on school grounds including students, teachers, school nurses, administrative and secretarial staff, food service personnel, custodial staff, public safety personnel, etc., must wear a face covering at all times when in school or in transit to and from school via group conveyance (i.e., school buses)...”
