Steve Werntz - Head Coach - e-mail Coach Werntz

Steve has helped hundreds of lacrosse players by instilling strong fundamental skills and nurturing a love for the game. He grew up in Severna Park, Maryland and played at Severn, Severna Park High School, Hero’s Lacrosse, and McDaniel College. Many of Steve’s coaches were All-Americans and he brings their knowledge, plus personal experience, to help your daughter be her best.

David Darden - Assistant Coach - e-mail Coach Darden

The 2024 season is David's 21st year coaching girls' lacrosse at VHHS. He looks forward to each and every season, and is excited to witness the continued growth of lacrosse within the state and the school. The VHHS lacrosse program continues to grow, with an exciting mix of new players, both those with and without previous lacrosse experience, and a good group of experienced returning players. David lettered in gymnastics at Glenbrook South High School and is a former University of Illinois cheerleader. He currently lives in Vernon Hills and is the father of three VHHS Cougar alumnae (Kelsey, Melissa, and Tierney). David is employed by AbbVie.
