Steve has helped hundreds of lacrosse players by instilling strong fundamental skills and nurturing a love for the game. He grew up in Severna Park, Maryland and played at Severn, Severna Park High School, Hero’s Lacrosse, and McDaniel College. Many of Steve’s coaches were All-Americans and he brings their knowledge, plus personal experience, to help your daughter be her best.

David Darden - Assistant Coach - e-mail Coach Darden
The 2021 season is David's 18th year coaching girls' lacrosse at VHHS. He looks forward to each and every season, and is excited to witness the continued growth of lacrosse within the state and the school. The VHHS lacrosse program continues to grow, with an exciting mix of new players, both those with and without previous lacrosse experience, and a good group of experienced returning players. David lettered in gymnastics at Glenbrook South High School and is a former University of Illinois cheerleader. He currently lives in Vernon Hills and is the father of three VHHS Cougar alumnae (Kelsey, Melissa, and Tierney). David is employed by AbbVie.
Megan Dorsey - Assistant Coach - e-mail Coach Dorsey
The 2021 season is Megan's 2nd year coaching girls' lacrosse at VHHS. She is very excited to start this season! Megan played lacrosse when she attended Vernon Hills High School and Coach Darden was her coach! Megan attended Miami University to become an English Teacher and is currently attending the University of Illinois for her Master's Degree. Megan currently lives in Vernon Hills and is employed at Matthews Middle School in Wauconda!
Rachel Hernandez - Assistant Coach - e-mail Coach Hernandez
Rachel is a proud VHHS and VHGLAX alum. After leaving Vernon Hills, Rachel attended the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and obtained her Bachelor's Degree in Middle Grades Education. She now teaches 6th grade in Wilmette. Having a background in education, Rachel understands that everyone learns in different ways. She is excited to bring her teaching expertise onto the lacrosse field.
