Doug Gerber - Head Coach - email Coach Gerber

Doug Gerber, Boys’ & Girls’ Head Tennis Coach, has been with District 128 for 21 years. This year is his 28th year coaching high school tennis. Before coming to Vernon Hills, he was an assistant coach at Libertyville, a head coach at River Forest High School (IN), and an assistant coach at Hobart High School (IN).  When not on the tennis courts, Doug teaches A.P. Language and Composition, American Literature and English-9.  Doug and his wife Suzanne enjoy spending time with their daughter Kate and their sons Jack & Peter.

Bill Killinger - Assistant Coach - email Coach Killinger

Bill retired from teaching in 2005. For 29 years he had been the music department chair/choral director at Conant High School. He was also the varsity boys’ tennis coach, musical and variety show director.  Bill received his B.A. from Augustana College and his master's from NIU. He has a wife and two children. His daughter, Kate, graduated from LHS and his son, Jeff, was in the first graduating class from VHHS. Bill really enjoys coaching with Coach Gerber and working with the tennis teams at Vernon Hills.

Ashley Edwards - Assistant Coach - email Coach Edwards

Ashley is in her third season assisting Coach Gerber and Coach Killinger with the girls’ frosh/soph team. Prior to coaching at Vernon Hills, Ashley coached the girls’ and boys’ frosh/soph teams at St. Viator High School and girls’ JV team at Deerfield High School. Ashley is a special education teacher at Grayslake Central High School. She received her B.S. from Baylor University and is currently working on her master’s at Roosevelt University.
