Wednesday, October 12th is a unique day for VHHS students. Freshmen, sophomores, and juniors (only juniors who registered for the PSAT/NMSQT) will be at school for a half day schedule. Please review the following list of the activities scheduled from 8:45am to 12:30pm.
Freshmen: All freshmen will participate in the RITE Assembly, an interactive forum exploring issues of respect, integrity, and trust. Please report directly to your assigned room. Room lists will be posted outside the LST and cafeteria by Monday, October 10th.
Sophomores: Sophomores will be introduced to YouScience within Scoir, a college and career readiness software program designed to open students’ eyes to future possibilities. They will also have an opportunity to hear from a panel of area career industry guest speakers and attend a Vernon Hills community job fair in the foyer. Sophomore students must bring their charged chromebook.
Juniors (who registered for the PSAT/NMSQT): Report to school at the regular time, 8:45am. NMSQT room rosters with names will be posted on Monday, October 10th in multiple locations. Juniors should bring a calculator, school ID, and two #2 pencils to school that day. The College Board has indicated online test-score reports will be available in mid-December. Juniors who own a school parking sticker will be allowed to park in the senior lot on this day only, providing they leave the first two rows closest to the building open for staff parking. Standard time questions regarding the PSAT/NMSQT should be directed to Andrew Young at (847) 932-2214 or Andrew.Young@d128.org.
Accommodations: Some students who test with accommodations will finish later than 12:00pm. Phones will be available in the LST for students to call for rides or take the late bus. If your student has accommodations, please see the enclosure with additional details.
Seniors & Juniors (who are NOT registered for the PSAT/NMSQT, leading the RITE assembly, or attending a college essay appointment) will not attend school on Wednesday, October 12th. This day should be used as a post-secondary college and career planning day.
Lockers: Students will not be able to access their lockers this day. They should plan accordingly.
Morning bus routes will run at regular-start times. Buses will leave VHHS following testing at approximately 12:40pm, after the day’s activities are complete. An additional bus will also run after accommodated testing is complete at 2:00pm.
