Course Description

See strobe lights, burglar alarms, sirens, audio amplifiers, nicad battery zappers, and other projects come to life as students assemble an electronic project of their choice in class. Learn how capacitors work and how they are used in circuits such as strobe lights and power supplies. Resistors are very important as they control electrons that travel near the speed light. Transformers can step-up or step-down voltage. Learn how to solder and unsolder components on printed circuit boards. Doorbells, three-way light switches, ceiling fans, and outlets are some of the typical house wiring circuits to be wired and tested by students. Digital meters, audio generators, oscilloscopes, and power supplies are electronic equipment used to probe and test circuits for voltage, current, resistance, and signals. Learn how to use them while completing experiments.
