Writers Expo
Writers Expo is a two-day celebration of the written word -- hopefully a fun, engaging, participatory, cross-curricular, and inspiring event. Every day will showcase student writers, each of whom will read their own original work (e.g. poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, drama, or song). Professional writers will also take the stage, demonstrating not only how writing can frame a person's career but also how the practice of writing can make one's life better. In the past, screenwriters, novelists, poets, musicians, bloggers, journalists, and more have presented. In addition, staff and community members (across all disciplines) have the chance to either share their original work or participate in live writing events.
This year's Expo will take place Thursday, March 21, 2024 and Friday, March 22, 2024. Students will present throughout both days. On Thursday, staff takes the stage. On Friday, Johnny Smith (professor, author, and sports & popular culture historian) will present periods 1-4, and Emily X. R. Pan (NYT best-selling author) will present periods 5-8.
