Writers Expo

Writers Expo is a two-day celebration of the written word -- hopefully a fun, engaging, participatory, cross-curricular, and inspiring event. Every day will showcase student writers, each of whom will read their own original work (e.g. poetry, short fiction, creative nonfiction, drama, or song). Professional writers will also take the stage, demonstrating not only how writing can frame a person's career but also how the practice of writing can make one's life better. In the past, screenwriters, novelists, poets, musicians, bloggers, journalists, and more have presented. In addition, staff and community members (across all disciplines) have the chance to either share their original work or participate in live writing events.

This year's Expo will take place Friday, April 8 and Monday, April 11.  Staff members will be highlighted on Friday. On Monday, Melissa Isaacson, a journalist who has worked for the Chicago Tribune as well as ESPN, will present periods 1 through 4; Chicago poet, Raych Jackson, will present periods 5 through 8. Students will present throughout both days.
