LHS Music Department Philosophy Statement

It is the desire of the Libertyville High School Music Department to provide a comprehensive music education for interested students in multiple areas. Through performance, composition, improvisation, and academic investigation, students have the opportunity to express themselves creatively while exploring various styles and techniques necessary for musical and personal development. Music is a force that connects people across cultures and boundaries, allowing our students to seek a broader worldview. In addition, through music our students can gain stronger connections to each other and to their community. It is our hope that through participation in our music programs that students will carry these connections and their appreciation for music into adult life.
