Libertyville High School is recognized by the Illinois State Board of Education and is a member of IACAC, NACAC and the College Board. Libertyville High School is a 1990 recipient of the U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon of Excellence Award. The school has received many honors including the School Search Bright A+ Award of Excellence and Bright Red Apple Award, the SchoolMatch “What Parents Want” Award, and being named to the U.S. News & World Report 2016 annual ranking of the Best American High Schools. LHS ranked #19 in the Washington Post’s 2016 “Top 25 Most Challenging High Schools in Illinois,” and was named the top public high school in Lake County by Chicago Magazine (Sept. 2016).
