Dear Parents/Guardians and Students:

I hope this finds you healthy, safe and well!

On behalf of the D128 Board, district and building administration, teachers and support staff, we are very excited to welcome back more students to campus at LHS and VHHS on Monday, April 5th, including students who will for the first time this year, attend school all-day. Whether students will be attending school full-time in-person, half-time in-person or remotely, the LHS and VHHS teams are committed to and will continue to provide them the best teaching and learning experience possible.

As always, student and staff health and safety continue to be our highest priorities. LHS Principal Dr. Koulentes and VHHS Principal Dr. Guillaume and their teams have spent significant time preparing to safely bring more students back to campus. However, for this learning choice expansion to be successful, it is critical that we commit to and work together to follow all established health and safety protocol and procedures, including, but not limited to:

  • Pre-Screen for COVID-19 symptoms daily before coming to school (and do not come to school if you have symptoms)
  • Wear a mask (except when eating lunch on campus)
  • Watch your distance
  • Wash your hands

In addition, LHS and VHHS administration and health professionals will continue to work closely with and follow all Lake County Health Department direction and guidance regarding COVID-19.

Free optional weekly Abbott BinaxNow testing is highly recommended and available for students at both high schools who are joining us on campus. Testing is required for all active student-athletes and many extra-curricular activities. Visit the following link to your student’s school for additional information about testing:

LHS

VHHS  (for in-person, non-athletes)

There may be a few minor bumps in the road as we get started with more students on campus, but those bumps will be identified quickly, addressed and smoothed out as we move forward together.

With that said, given the amazing D128, LHS and VHHS “can-do” spirit, I am confident that we will make this next important transition successful.

Sincerely,

Dr. Prentiss Lea, Superintendent

Community High School District 128
