The District 128 Board of Education consists of seven members who are elected by the District 128 community. The Board also includes student representatives from Libertyville High School and Vernon Hills High School.

The Board welcomes and encourages District 128 residents to attend its meetings. Please see the side bar for meeting dates and locations.

 

Community High School District 128 Seeks Applicants for Board Vacancy

At its Aug. 28  meeting, the Community High School District 128 Board of Education accepted the resignation of Board Member Casey Rooney. Rooney tendered her resignation after being selected to fill a Trustee vacancy on the Village Board. She will be sworn in at their September meeting

“The D128 Board and Administration are grateful to Casey for her many years of dedication to D128 and wish her all the best as she transitions to her new role,” said D128 Board of Education President Lisa Hessel. “Although she will be sorely missed by D128, we applaud Casey for continuing to serve our community as a Libertyville Trustee.”

The Board will follow the steps outlined in Board Policy, 2:70 Vacancies on Board of Education - Filling Vacancies, to replace Rooney.

The District will use the process below to fill the board member vacancy:

1. The Board Vacancy Press Release publicizing the vacancy will be sent to the media and posted on D128 websites and via social media by 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 29, 2023.

2. Interested Board candidates must complete and submit the required application for the vacant seat on the Board of Education by Sept. 15, 2023. The application has closed to interested board members at 4:00 p.m.

3. From Board Policy 2:70 -  "After reviewing the applications, the Board may invite the prospective candidates for personal interviews to be conducted during duly scheduled closed meetings."

4. The D128 Board will need to appoint a new Board member no later than Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023 (if the D128 Board fails to do so, the ROE Superintendent has the legal duty to do so). The Board will ensure that the appointment is made prior to the Oct. 26, 2023 deadline.
