D128 2023-2024 Data Profile
The mission of Community High School District 128 is to develop graduates who are DARING – an acronym for the attributes and skills students develop as they explore and discover personal journeys to meaningful post-secondary pursuits. The acronym stands for Dreamers and Doers, Aware, Resilient and Healthy, Inquisitive, Nimble, and Global.
The district’s schools, Libertyville High School (LHS) and Vernon Hills High School (VHHS), have received the U.S. Department of Education National Blue Ribbon of Excellence Award and consistently rank among the top high schools in Illinois and the U.S. The schools provide students a wide array of award-winning academic, fine arts, and athletic programs.
This profile provides detailed information for Community High School District 128, as well as data for both of its buildings, Libertyville High School (LHS) and Vernon Hills High School (VHHS). Much of the data in the profile is based on reports from the Illinois Web Application Security (IWAS); data taken from this source is reflective of fall housing counts and enrollment, which are submitted on October 1 on an annual basis. This data includes serving school students from LHS and VHHS (serving school students attend LHS or VHHS as their primary school).
Additional data sources used to complete this profile include D128 PowerSchool, CollegeBoard, FiveStar, Skyward (staffing data), and the Illinois State report card for the district and each school. Please note: These additional data sources reflect enrollment on the exact day that the data was pulled, so there may be places in the profile where student counts do not exactly match data that was pulled from IWAS reports, which reflect a static date – October 1.
Student demographic data that can be analyzed by race, gender, grade level, fee waiver status, English Learner status, and IEP status is presented to the extent it was available for a given data set.
Many sets of data are displayed in both tables and charts, although there are times when only a table is presented. When both a table and chart are presented for the same data, the table appears first, followed by the chart that represents the same information as shown in the table in a graphical format. Titles appear on each table and chart to provide a quick reference of the data being shown. In addition, where applicable, explanations for how to read a table or chart are provided.
The profile is organized into sections by topic as outlined in the table shown below. Each section is linked to a document, which will open as a pdf when you click on the link. Each section is further broken down into subsections, which are bookmarked throughout the section and linked in a table of contents that appears toward the beginning. In the table below, you will see the last updated date for each section. In most cases, five years’ worth of data is presented. Currently, the majority of the visualizations contain information from the 2018-2019 through the 2022-2023 school years.
The last section of the document contains perception data based on the Continuous Improvement survey that is administered to students, staff, and parents/guardians in December of each school year.
Please note: As a data-rich document, some of the visualizations in the D128 Data Profile may not be accessible using a screen reader. If there is data of particular interest to you, please contact D128 Director of Data and Assessment Charlotte Eames at charlotte.eames@d128.org, for assistance.
