VHHS Physical Education Health Department Philosophy Statement

People participating in sports

The Mission of the Physical Welfare Department at Vernon Hills High School is to empower and educate  students for life after secondary education.  Our diverse curriculum provides students with essential skills that support them in becoming aware, resilient and healthy. Through encouraging their inquisitive nature, students expand socially, physically, emotionally, and mentally. Students are exposed to a variety of wellness experiences that help them become global fitness ambassadors.  We encourage students to make DARING choices that lead to holistic achievement now and in the future. Students must be enrolled in Physical Welfare every semester they are in attendance. Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors participating in an interscholastic sport sanctioned by IHSA may qualify for a PE Athletic Exemption. Please refer to the student handbook for more details.
