VHHS Backlight Theater Co Presents - The Laramie Project

VHHS Backlight Theater Co Presents - The Laramie Project

About the Show

In October of 1998, Matthew Shepard, a gay 21-year-old University of Wyoming student, was kidnapped, severely beaten, and left tied to a fence in the middle of the prairie outside of Laramie, Wyoming. Over the next year and a half, members of the Tectonic Theater Project made six trips to Laramie and conducted more than 200 interviews with the people of the town. Tectonic Theater members constructed The Laramie Project, a documentary style play, from these interviews and their own experiences in Laramie. The play is a breathtaking collage that explores the depths to which humanity can sink and the heights of compassion of which we are capable.
