ATTENDANCE - RESPONSIBILITIES

Students must attend school until age 17 according to Section 26-1 of the Illinois School Code.

• Students:  to be on time to class so that his/her attendance can be taken in a proper manner to clarify any attendance questions.
• Parent/Guardian: to inform the school of any absences and their causes prior to or by 10:00 AM on the day of the absence.

Parents may call the Attendance Office prior to 7:30 AM and leave the following information:  student’s first and last name - spelled out, year in school, name of parent  calling, daytime phone where parent may be contacted to verify the call and reason for absence.  Notes from parents will not be accepted. Absences not cleared within a 24-hour period may result in an unauthorized absence and school consequences.

• School: to monitor the student’s attendance and to inform parent(s)/guardian of any attendance problems.  The final decision for categorizing an absence rests with the administration.
