Case Management Responsibilities

Each student receiving services within the Special Education Program will be assigned a case manager. A student’s case manager will make contact with parents the first few weeks of school to introduce himself/herself. 

The case manager’s responsibilities include:

  • Collect, analyse and report data
  • Update the annual goals and quarterly objectives for a student's IEP
  • Communicate with parents
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and related service providers regarding student progress and needs
  • Help students to understand their disability, its impact on their education, and how to implement strategies to reach success
  • Develop test-taking and study strategies
  • Communicate accommodations/modifications and/or behavior plans to all individuals working with a student
  • Schedule and hold informal parent conferences, IEP meetings and Annual Reviews
  • Be knowledgeable about the IEP and ensure it is implemented correctly
  • Complete transition activities for students age 14 and older
