The VHHS Girls' Lacrosse Team fields Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Frosh/Soph teams.  Our Junior Varsity team is composed of all grades and focuses on developing players for the Varsity team.  Our Frosh/Soph team focuses on the basics of the sport and developing players to compete at the JV and Varsity levels.

OPEN LACROSSE - Wednesday, September 25

Our first open lacrosse session of the 2024-2025 school year will be held on Wednesday September 25

  • Date: Wed 9/25/24
  • Time: 6-7:30 pm
  • Where: VHHS Stadium

Open lacrosse is open to all girls at VHHS, regardless of intent to play during the season, and is a good opportunity to start getting ready for the season, learn the sport, and/or play for the fun of it.  

Please spread the word to anyone you think might be interested.

We have a limited number of sticks and goggles that may be borrowed.  You must have your own formed mouthguard.

Our 2024 Girls' Lacrosse Awards Program was held on Wednesday June 5.  The coaching staff would like to thank all of our players for their contribution to the season.  We wish our graduating Seniors success in the future and look forward to seeing the rest of our players back next season.

CONGRATULATIONS TO EMILY DORNBUSCH!

Emily will continue her Girls' Lacrosse career at Augustana College in Rock Island, IL.  Emily will be studying Psychology while competing for the Vikings.  See also the May 1, 2024 ePawPrints

Abigail was inducted into the National Honor Society on Monday April 8.

 

CONGRATULATIONS TO EMILIA TORRES MELENDEZ and LEONOR NEWMAN!

Emilia and Leanor were two of 15 recipients of the February 2024 Ellen Cwik Cougar Class Act Award.  The Cougar Class Act Award recognizes students who exemplify our Vernon Hills High School values and support our DARING Mission.  These students make a positive difference in our school by their attitudes and actions.

Of note: Beatriz Alonzo Arroyo was a recipient of the October 2023 Ellen Cwik Cougar Class Act Award (prior to joining the lacrosse program).

CONGRATULATIONS TO
LIZZY EITEL and LILY CAIRO!

Lizzy and Lily both reached milestones in their high school lacrosse careers recently.

  • Lizzy gained her 100th career point (goals plus assists) upon scoring the first goal in our game vs. Libertyville Wildcats on May 6.
  • Lily achieved 300 career saves with her second save in our game vs. Evanston Wildkits on May 8.

 

CONGRATULATIONS TO NOEMI RAMIREZ!

Congratulations to Noemi Ramirez, 2022 GLAX alumna, on her induction into the Vernon Hills High School Wall of Fame.  Noemi is currently playing for Regis University.

 

IHSA TEAM ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT AWARD

Congratulations to members of the 2022 Girls' Lacrosse team for qualifying for the IHSA Team Academic Achievement Award.  Qualifying teams were required to achieve a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the season.
